NemaCon as an idea was born in the manga section of what was Borders Books at Teesside Park in nearby Stockton-On-Tees. Following a successful Manga and Anime event that attracted over 100 people, and an equally popular second event, many realised that the store was no longer big enough for us to be able to run the kind of event we wanted and the idea of a full blown Manga and Anime convention was born. That idea would eventually grow into the North East Manga and Anime Convention, NemaCon for short.
Over a year later and following the sad demise of the much loved Bookchain and lot of hard work NemaCon’s 2010 debut event ran and was a resounding success.
In association with Middlesbrough Town Hall, Teesside University and our other partners NemaCon returned in 2011 with a bigger and better event. Thanks to the support of the aforementioned parties and our growing base of attendees NemaCon is able to return in 2012 and aims to build on its past successes.
